The "Item Stats" Update (0.46)


Hey there, the new "Item Stats" update is here. Rainy craft is a game about enhancing your items with risky crafts.  The major goal of this is update is to revamp Dexterity/Intelligence/Strength statistics and add line of stats on your items that helps crafts used on it.

The Statistics problem

- The aim of dex/int/str is to add a layer of depth to the items. You can choose to get more, but you need to plan carefully to exploit them with other stats such as "Gain 3 action speed per 10 dexterity".

- However, there was a problem : Players expect to have additional bonuses by gaining dexterity, even if no other stat exploit it. But I didn't want that to be the case, as I would have to either bring a new UI to summarize what each of these do, or let the player guess what they would deal more damage (which I try to avoid).

- Solution: I really like the concept of combining multiple items to exploit some stats, so I have replaced all attributes with one "Mysterious potential" line you can have which behave the same way. The new name solve the problem as it is expected that it doesn't do anything unless you find how (using other lines as previously "gain 12 life max per 10 mysterious potential").

- However, having only that mysterious potential for late  scaling felt bland, and I introduced another one, rarer, the "souls", which behave the same way but feel different (For example you can expect "42 mysterious potential/5 soul"s on a late game build, while previously it looked like "48 dex/68 str/94 int", harder to read easily).

- Having only two stats and making them rarer allowed me to color code them in your inventory without having it feel too colored, as we already have "petrified" and "prophecy" stats which have special colors.

The new Crafting stats

Two new stats make their apparition, to pave the way for a new concept : One allow you to control which stat will be first removed from the item, while the other allow you to earn X permanent maximum HP each time you craft on this item (until you end up removing that stat. Yes, it can be upgraded too. Yes it works with Astral enhancement if you keep the stat when equiping the item).

You can expect more crazy way to exploit this in later versions.
